Abstract:
The experimental laboratory system of the diesel common-rail engine is demonstrated. It is used to study the solenoid operated controlling characteristics. Besides, fuel pressure regulator valve is investigated in term of response time. Using the mathematical model, electrical and mechanical subsystems are simulated under MATLAB/Simulink environments to achieve high compliance with the behavior of the real actuator. Then the mathematical model is validated through experimental test by input and output signals of such fuel pressure regulator valve. Furthermore, such model is investigated and modified with the PID current controller unit in order to obtain and compare the characteristics response of the mathematic models from solenoid valve. Consequently, the transient response of the solenoid valve can be improved using the PID current controller unit. Besides, the technique for simulating an actuator provides a simple algorithm with essential parameters to interpret the physical behaviors such as electromagnetic force, inductance and plunger displacement.
