Guidelines for the enhancement of community participation in basic education provision at the school level in Nakhon Nayok province : a sociological analysis
Abstract:
The purposes of this research are to analyze the community participation in basic education at the school level by using the structural functional theory and to propose guidelines for enhancing the community participation in basic education at the school level. The research utilized a qualitative research methodology by using data collection, the techniques of focus- group discussion, in-depth interview, and observation, as well as non-participatory and participatory observation and by using field study in 4 schools in Nakornnayok province. Administrators and supervisors at the office of Nakorn nayok educational area examined and approved the guidelines. Research findings were as follows: 1) The school based management is conducted in all 4 schools. 2) The sociological analysis in structural-functional theory were used to analyze the basic educational institute committees role. (1) To analyze in expected role. perceived role and actual role in terms of academic. budget personnel and general management. It was found that the basic educational committees role in perceived role and actual role are in medium level. There is a intrarole conflict in terms of academic. (2) To analyze the action system by using The Functional lmperatives in 4 basic elements : CAIL. The G (Goal attainment) the school invited community to be the basic educational institute committee both school and community have to be adapted themselves (A : Adaptation) to work together, then they have been searching the ways to work well so they are integrated (I : Integration) themselves by sharing both time and ideas, and work controlling or reducing some stress (L : Latency) by having some meetings. 2) Two types of guidelines to enhance the community participation in basic education were presented Firstly. Improving the leaders in developing which is derived from the information identified by the members of the focus-group discussion. This type of education intends to improve the administrators to understand and practice some skulls in education administration. Secondly The basic educational institute committee seminar to improve the quality of all the basic educational institute committee was developed by the data information from field-study and the analysis and synthesis of related documents These 2 guidelines were submitted to the administrators and supervisors at the office of Nakorn nayok educational area for judgment and improvement.
