Abstract:
At present, most farmers in Thasud Sub-district, Mueang, Chiang Rai are moving to be fresh pineapple producers caused by the increase of demand from a domestic and foreign market. The critical causes of this move are the coming of Chinese contact farming. Moreover, Farmers in Thasud Sub-district are facing production problems.
The efficiency of production should be evaluated. The purposes of this research are (1) to study of the local supply chain of fresh pineapple in Thasud Sub-district, Mueang, Chiang Rai and (2) to evaluate the efficiency of pineapple production in each Thasud Sub-districts villages by using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). For input and output determination, the researcher collects the data by ethnography observation, and interviewing refers to the production function in economics. In each decision-making unit (DMUs), the researcher uses secondary data in 2018 by Thasud Sub-district municipal office are Planting Area, Owners (farmers), fertilizer and chemical product, and Land preparation cost, and Harvest hiring cost for input and Fresh pineapple harvested of each village for output. The researcher found that they use much more inputs are owners (farmers) and fertilizer and chemical products. Finally, farmers need to reduce their chemical products such as fertilizer, hormone, etcs.
