Abstract:
This thesis on the management of the wasted materials in the offset printing factory by using 3Rs
principle; Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. The objectives are to perform the feasibility study and to
decide the procedures for waste management in the offset printing factory with 3Rs principle. The
primary study was the survey for the list of wasted materials and the opinion of related staffs in
process by using the questionnaires for 14 persons. It was found that 73.47% of the related staffs
agree with the project of waste management in their printing factory and the priority of wasted
materials were selected to be managed. After that, the procedures were brainstormed from the
related staffs and then used for real performance. It was shown that 3Rs principle can be efficiently
used for managing the wasted materials. After using the procedures of reduce principle, the amount
of kraft paper used as the printing paper wrapping was reduced at 55.97% and the number of
printing ink can was reduced at 34.66%. After using the procedures of reuse principle, the wrapping
kraft paper could be reused at 78.58% and ink can was reused at 76.83%. Finally, the recycle
principle could be applied to reduce all amount of 6-item wasted materials i.e. wasted printed
papers, kraft paper used for printing paper wrapping, plastic containers, piece of paper from
trimming, ink can, and axle of adhesive tape. This study indicated that the procedures of 3Rs
principle could be practical applied to manage the used materials in the printing factory.
