Abstract:
The objective of this research was to study ways of employee retention of Small and
Medium Enterprises (SMEs) of construction business in Chonburi. A qualitative method for case
study was applied to this research. An in-dept interview was used to verify the Principle of
Employee Retention of which consisted 1. Equality 2.Privilege 3. Motivation 4. Desire
Satisfaction 5. Efficiency and 6 Pleasure. The result from the aforementioned interview would be
synthesized to conclude the ways of employee retention of Small and Medium Enterprises
(SMEs) of construction business in Chonburi.
The findings showed that the Principle of Employee Retention hadaffected to the
following employee retention of SMEs. Due tothe small size of SMEs organization, the
entrepreneurs were able todirectly approachto employees actual desire according to Desire
Satisfaction of such Employee RetentionPrinciple. Furthermore, employees had to work promptly
and their work would be more efficiency in accordance with the Pleasure if the entrepreneurs were
capable of both satisfying their employees satisfaction for their salaries, welfares and working
environment with respect to the Motivation and Privilege, and encouragingthem to work as a team
and to live as a family in respect of the Equality. This findings would be worth to doin
consideration of business aspect. Notwithstanding, the value of applying this findings was
unpredictable for the aspect of human resource development since the developing was deemed
business cost. In the event that employees were able to work in long term after their development,
the worthiness of investment would be occurred pursuant to the Efficiencyof Employee Retention
Principle.
