The statistics used for data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. As for qualitative research, the informants were 6 executives or staff from units of business incubation in 65 higher education institutions, derived by purposive sampling. Data were collected by an in-depth interview and analyzed by content analysis.
The findings of this research were as follows:
1. The factors affecting success in entrepreneur incubation of units of business incubation in higher education institutions were managing personnel, directing, and planning. The equation had predictive power of 44%. The equation could be presented as follows:
Ŷtot = 4.86 + 0.42*(X1) + 0.06(X2) + 0.83**(X3) + 0.55*(X4) + 0.04(X5) + 0.30(X6) + 0.18(X7) + 0.10(X8) + 0.07(X9).
2. The factors affecting the success of entrepreneurs were directing, managing personnel, coordinating, and reporting. The equation had predictive power of 60%. The equation could be presented as follows:
Ŷtot = 3.66 + 0.24(X1) + 0.10(X2) + 0.56*(X3) + 0.28(X4) + 0.51*(X5) + 0.35*(X6) + 0.02(X7) + 0.82**(X8) + 0.08(X9)
3. The management guidelines affecting the success of entrepreneur incubation were 1) always adjusting a plan according to situations; 2) adjusting organization structures appropriate to universities contexts by clearly directing and assigning duties; 3) selecting the right personnel for the right job and regularly promoting personnel competency development; and 4) truly reporting incubation progress and problems.
