Abstract:
Odoo, an open source ERP system, can help a company operates efficiently using its various apps and modules. One of those modules is an inventory management module, whose purpose is to provide a solution for a company to keep track of its inventory and to provide early warning if the inventory of any product drops below a set minimum amount. This amount is called the reorder point (ROP). This thesis aims to determine the optimal ROP by training an artificial neural network (ANN), which is a machine learning technique, using a publicly available inventory dataset, and to extend the inventory management module of Odoo using the trained ANN. MATLAB R2016a is used to train the ANN and package the ANN into a Python library package for usage in extending Odoo. The best ANN is trained using the MATLAB training algorithm trainbr. The ANN is used to successfully extend the inventory management module of Odoo. This is a good basis for further research into improving the process and the efficiency of determining the optimal ROP within the Odoo system
