Development of quality of life of skip-generation households in Isan in era of Neo-liberalism : Study Tambon kohkaew, Tambon Thamuang, Amphoe Selaphum, Roi Et
Abstract:
This article is a qualitative research aimed to study the development of quality of life of skip-generation households in Isan in era of Neo-liberalism : Study Tambon koh kaew, Tambon Thamuang, Amphoe Selaphum, Roi Et. The key informants are subdistrict municipal officers, community leaders, household members of skip-generation households. The Data collection tools are semi-structured interview forms to interview the community context of household situation in skip-generation households and the collecting data between December 2018 - January 2019 using content analysis.
The results of the study indicates that the situation of skip-generation households in Tambol Koh Kaew and Tambol ThaMuang , Amphoe Selaphum, Roi Et Province consists of 1) skip-generation households live as a couple and raising 2 children 2) skip-generation households live as a couple and raising 3 children and these elderly people must take care their children, Most of them are mainly farmers, some families do not have any supplementary occupation. Most of the income comes from their children who are working in different areas and send money back to them for expense. The development of quality of life of skip-generation households are consisting of 1) The role of strengthening the community in order to increase income of skip-generation households and manage the fund in the village to be sustainable, finding markets and building community networks to bring agricultural crops for sale to earn extra income for skip-generation households 2) The role of local government organizations, although the work of the municipal district is strong in caring for the elderly in the community, however we found that some municipal district do not have information about skip-generation households. Then it should be able to empowerment of the sub district municipality to know the impact that would have on skip-generation households.
