Abstract:
Thisresearchintendstostudybest practices for communityparticipationineducationalmanagement of small primaryschoolsinBuriram province. BasicEducationBoardfromthe Office of BuriramPrimaryEducational Service Area 2 and 3 whichreceivedthefirstprizeinbestpracticeforcommunityparticipationof smallsizeschoolswerepurposivelyselectedtobethetargetgroup. The instrument used to collect the data was semi-structured interview and the important issues from the collected data were analyzed and interpreted by using descriptive analysis.
The findings were as follows:
1. AcademicAdministration : Schoolscollaborated with local speakers to educate students about locality, precaution, security, and development of school learning resources. Moreover, school administrators had a wide vision to listen to communitys opinions and provided a chance for the Basic Education Board to deliberate, decide and evaluate school projects and activities.
2. Budget Administration : The Basic Education Board received a chance to comment on school budget plans and fund raising for education by establishing the committee from the locals. Moreover,the Basic Education Board was assigned to examine the budget and publicize the schools budget plan to the community.
3. Personnel Administration : The Basic Education Board was allowed to show their opinions to select suitable teachers or local speakers and make a decision to promote school personnel based on their performance.
4. General Administration : Community involved as committee members to make a decisionto maintain and develop schools bulidings and environment for learning. The role of the school was as a coordinator to communicate and publicize information to educational networks, local leaders, and the Basic Education Board. The community participated in students activities through fund raising project and co - organized schools activities.
