Abstract:
Nickel catalysts were prepared by dry impregnation of nickel nitrate on alumina support having 4 different BET area of 8.1, 32.2, 67.4 and 342.5 square metre per gram in 8 % of nickel on alumina. Those catalysts then were calcined at various calcinations temperature, heating rate and maintain period. From the experiments, the nickel catalyst on 8.1 square metre per gram of alumina calcined at 300℃ with heating rate 15℃/minute and maintain for 1 hour was found to possess the largest active surface area of 0.07 square metre per gram with the 7th order of sintering rate equation having sintering rate constant, at 300℃, of 0.28 metre-12 gram 6 hour-1. The others on 32.2, 67.4 and 342.5 square metre per gram of alumina calcined at 300℃ with heating rate 10℃/minute and maintain for 1 hour were found to possess the largest active surface area of 1.87, 3.76, 7.81 square metre per gram with the 6th, 4 th, 2nd order of sintering rate equation having sintering rate constant , at 300℃, of 1.66 × 10-3 metre-10 gram5 hour-1, 6.35 × 10-4 metre-6 gram3 hour-1 and 4.17 × 10-3 metre-2 gram hour-1 respectively.
