Abstract:
The objectives of this research are to survey, study the life skills of Bangkok school children and proposed the guidelines for developing their life skills. The research sample comprised of 2,160 students in the lower and upper secondary schools as well as vocational school located in Bangkok under the Office of the Basic Education Commission, Office of the Private Education Commission, Department of Education of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and Office of Vocational Education Commission. The research tools consist of the questionnaire, document study and interview. Data were analyzed by mean, interview and focus group. The result of the study can be concluded as follows: Most of the youth get a high score in interpersonal relationship, self awareness and empathy life skills but less score in decision making, coping with stress and self esteem. Most of the developing life skills get from joining youth groups are self awareness and social responsibility. To propose the guidelines for developing life skills of Bangkok youth, we need cooperation and support from many parts; family, school, government and private sector organization as well as the existing youth group. Organizing the activities that the youth can share ideas, do something together and drawing will assist to develop the lack of decision making, coping with stress and self esteem life skills of Bangkok youth.
