Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to analyze and compare the passing techniques and the factors in relation to the pass between the world championship team and the competitor teams in the 2010 FIH World Cup. The subjects used in this study comprised 8 National teams from this tournament, the world championship team (Australia) and the competitor teams (England, Pakistan, South Africa, Spain, India, Netherland, and Germany) by purposive sampling. The data from 7 matches of championship team were analyzed and related with Focus X2 Version 1.5 Program. The obtained data were compared by using descriptive and inferential statistics consisting of Independent sample t-test and one-way analysis of variance with multiple comparison, using the Least Significant Difference at .05 level The results were as follow: 1. The findings revealed that the most popularity used technique was fore stick push pass 1552 times (45.26%), flat slap pass 477 times (13.91%) and fore stick lift push pass 342 times (9.97%), in order. The analysis also found a new passing technique that was not found in textbook was deflection pass. This passing technique was used for 86 times (2.51%) which, 70 times (2.54%) was found in the level of success pass and 52 times (7.47%) was found in the level of advantage pass 2. The comparison of passing technique at .05 level showed that significant difference between passing technique in the level of success pass and advantage pass. Which, Fore stick push pass was the most passing technique that more effective to the level of success pass and advantage pass than the others. The comparison of the factors in relation of passing also, significant difference was found in the level of advantage pass in the target area and passing direction. Which, center attack zone was the most target area and forward pass was the most passing direction that more effective to the level of advantage pass than the others. 3. The comparison of passing result showed that significant difference between the world champion team and the competitors in the level of advantage pass. Fore stick push pass, Upright slap pass, Fore stick lift push pass, Long grip hit pass and Reverse stick lift push pass were 5 types of pass that championship team have more effect to the level of advantage pass than competitor teams.
