Abstract:
Spiritual well-being is an important health domain that links and affects to the other
health domains among family caregivers of persons with physical disability. This predictive
correlational research aimed to determine factors affecting the spiritual well-being among family
caregivers of persons with physical disability. A multi-stage cluster random sampling was used to
recruit 180 participants of family caregivers of persons with physical disability in Chanthaburi
province. Research instruments were interviews including religious activities, caregiver and care
recipient relationships, social support, caregiving burden, and spiritual well-being. Their reliabilities
were .88, .94, .83, .82, and .91 respectively. Descriptive statistics and stepwise multiple regression
analysis were used to analyze the data.
The results revealed that the spirituall well-being among family caregivers was rated at a
high level. The most three domains were goal setting (
X
= 4.17, SD = 2.29) peace of mind
(
X
= 4.10, SD =3.29) and mindfulness, meditation, and intelligence (
X
= 4.00, SD = 5.89)
respectively. The caregiver and care-recipient relationship (B = .292) social support (B = .169)
perceived caregiving burden (B = -.175) and religious activities (B = .136) could together explain
25.8 % (R

adj= 25.8, F = 4.03, p< .05)of the variance accounted for in the spiritual well-being
among family caregivers of persons with physical disability.
These findings suggest that nurse and other health personnel should develop the program
to promote the spiritual well-being through promotingcaregiver and care recipient relationships,
encouraging family members, friends, or significant persons to provide support, reducing caregiving
burdens, and promoting religious activities for family caregivers. Consequently, family caregivers
spiritual well-being would be enhanced and resulted in quality of life.
