Abstract:
ABSTRACT
This research aimed to: 1) compare the Chinese language communicative competence of grade 11 students before and after using task-based learning (TBL) approach; and 2) study the students satisfaction towards learning communicative Chinese through task-based learning. The research sample was 40 grade 11 students from Class 5/1 in the second semester of academic year 2018 at Kamphaengsaen Wittaya School, Kamphaeng Saen district, Nakhon Pathom Province, derived by cluster random sampling. The research instruments were 1) 4 Chinese language lesson plans, 3 hours per plan, totally 12 hours based on task-based learning in the learning unit of Communicative Chinese for tourism in Nakhon Pathom province, 2) an ability test on communicative Chinese, and 3) a students satisfaction questionnaire. The data collection covered 6 weeks, 2 hours per week. The statistics used were mean, standard deviation, and t-test.
The findings of this research were as follows:
1. The Chinese communicative competence of grade 11 students after using task-based learning approach was higher than that of before at the .05 level of statistical significance.
2. The grade 11 students were satisfied with learning communicative Chinese through task-based learning at the highest level.
