ABSTRACT
This research aimed to: 1) study the level of implementation of 5 precepts of secondary students in Nakhon Pathom Province; 2) compare the level of implementation of 5 precepts of secondary students in Nakhon Pathom Province as classified by personal factors; and 3) study the influence of Sufficiency Economy Philosophy application on the implementation of 5 precepts of secondary students in Nakhon Pathom Province. The research sample, derived by quota sampling, was 400 secondary students in Nakhon Pathom Province according to the sample size estimation of Krejcie and Morgan with a 5-percent margin of error. The data collection instrument was a questionnaire constructed by the researcher with content validity between 0.67 and 1.00. The internal consistency reliability coefficients were 0.85 for Sufficiency Economy Philosophy application, and 0.88 for the implementation of 5 precepts. Data were analyzed with frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, one-way analysis of variance, and multiple regression analysis.
The research results were as follows:
1. The implementation of 5 precepts of secondary students in Nakhon Pathom Province was at the highest level. The aspect with the highest average was refraining from taking things of others without permission.
2. The implementation of 5 precepts of secondary students in Nakhon Pathom Province differentiated according to gender, educational level, participation in ethics camp, school type, fathers occupation, mothers occupation, and mothers education.
3. Overall, all aspect of the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy application significantly affected the implementation of 5 precepts of secondary students in Nakhon Pathom Province. The aspects were moderation (X1) (b = 0.20), reasonableness (X2) (b = 0.16), self-immunity (X3) (b = 0.12), condition of knowledge (X4) (b = 0.22), and condition of morality (X5) (b = 0.09). The regression equation was Y ̂_tot= 0.89 +0.20(X1) + 0.16(X2) + 0.12(X3) + 0.22(X4) + 0.09(X5).
