Abstract:
The objectives of this research were to develop English speaking for communication course
using the simulation for 2nd year vocational certificate students and to study the effect of using
English speaking for communication course using simulation for sample students. The sample of
this study was 30 2" year vocational certificate students in the first semester, academic year 2019.
They are studying in Tourism and Hotel Program. The sample was selected based in a simple random sampling. The program was used as a unit of sampling. The research instruments were
English speaking for communication course and the manual and English speaking for communication
test scale. Data were analyzed using statistics, including percentage, mean, standard deviation, and
Dependent t-test.
The results of this research indicated as follows:
1. Development and quality evaluation results
1.1 English speaking for communication course was developed using the simulation for
2-year vocational certificate students, consisting of 1) problems and needs, 2) principles, 3)
objectives, 4) learning results, 5) structure and content, 6) learning management, 7) media and
learning resources, and 8) measurement and evaluation.
1.2 Overall suitability of the developed program was at a high level (X =3.90, S.D. =
0.97) and overall suitability of the manual was at a high level (X =4.04 , S.D. = 0.83).
2. Applications of the developed course
2.1 After taught with the developed course, a mean score of English speaking for communication skills of the sample was higher than before with a statistical significance level of .05.
