Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to study behaviors on openness for media and application of mass media within three categories of mass media e.g. newspaper, radio and television among the
students of Rajabhat Surat Thani University. The data was collected through a questionnaire fonn completed by 386 members of a sampling group and was analyzed through different values of
frequency, percentage, mathematical mean and standard deviation. The findings, in general, revealed that students who opened themselves for mass media were mostly female, age between 18
to 20 and a first year in the faculty of Education Management. The behavior of the sampling group in the category of a newspaper was in a fonn of reading a leading newspaper, either Thairath or
Daily News which is generally available in all bookshops. The utilization of newspapers for their benefits was at a high level (X = 3.76). The behavior on the category of a radio broadcasting
disclosed that the sampling group preferred local radio stations of the provincial broadcasting and the utilization of the radio broadcasting for their benefit was also at a high level (X = 3.72).
Meanwhile, the behavior on the category of a television was in a fonn of viewing national free television channels i.e. channel 3, channel 5, channel 7, and channel 9 and again the utilization of
the television media for their benefit was at a high level (X = 3.97). It was further found that television was a media that received the highest attention as it provided brief contents, fast news that
the television infonnation may even effect their decision making.
