The Relationships between Internet Utilization Behaviors, Learning Achievement and Enthusiasm in Learning of Mattayom Suksa Students at the Third Level, Samutprakan School
Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to study the relationships between internet utilization behaviors, learning achievement and enthusiasm in learning of Mattayom
Suksa students at the third level, Samutprakan School. Sampling group were 1,379 students at the third level from Samutprakarn School. A instrument used for
data collection was a questionnaire with 7 rating scales. The reliability of the instrument calculated by Cronbrach Alph Coefficient was at 0.893. Statistics utilized
for data analysis were mean (X), standard deviation (S.D.), t-test, F-test, multiple regression and canonical correlation.
The results of the study were as follows:
1) According to the general status of the students, it was found that most female students with the age of 13 were the Mattayom Suksa students at the second level who
had GPA more than 3.51 in the last semester (2/2548). Additionally, when the GPA. of male and female students were compared, it was found that the female students
(X =3.37, S.D. = 0.51) had better learning achievement than the male students (X =3.06, S.D. = 0.61).
2) According to the general status of the internet utilizations, it was found that the purpose of internet using was for learning and communications. The female students
used the internet for data searching, software downloading and saving multimedia such as images, music, movies, and software drivers. Students learning habits showed
that they were enthusiastic in recording major ideas from whatever they listened to, reading for more information about what they were interested in, posing questions
for exchanging points of view, and gathering sources in writing. However, the female students aged between 12 and 13-15 years old were different in selecting to use
the services of WWW. The male students used the internet for entertainment, online movie watching, and music listening. Internet using places for the male students
were mostly at homes/rental houses. In addition, they used the internet during evening time (16.00-20.00 p.m.) with an average of 2-4 hours a day.
3) Age and the internet utilization behaviors; for example, learning how to access to website, doing with required data such as to save, to print as well as to comprehend
the usefulness of internet were highly related with the students enthusiasm.
