Abstract:
Noise community is the one of the most important environmental problems in the
developing area. The objective of this research is on environmental noise measurement in Pattaya
City 8 School (Phathya Nu Kul) Chon Buri Province. The noise level in the school was
measurement from 10 stations during working days and holidays by sound level meter
(IEC61672-1 Type 2). The attitude survey about the noise problem in the school, were collected
by questionnaire. In final, the evaluation of the environmental noise situation was evaluated.
The results show that most of the equivalent sound level in 8 hours (Leq,8hr) and 24 hours (Leq,24hr)
are lower than that of the standards. The Leq,8hr in the working day was in the range of
62.90 81.53 dB(A), while the holiday is in the range of 57.93 71.12 dB(A). The Leq,24hr in
the working day is in the range of 62.59 75.00 dB(A), while the holiday is in the range of
57.99 70.65 dB(A). The background noise (L90) in the working day is in the range of
55.90 68.60 dB(A), while the holiday is in the range of 50.00 66.10 dB(A). The attitude of
the most respondents about noise problem in the school was moderate level. The main sources of
noise were mostly from the traffic and community activities. The impact of the noise to students
and staffs in the school were harm to physical and mental health, disturbs hearing and reduce
