Abstract: การลดลงของระดับ LDLและคอเรสเตอรอลในพลาสม่าในเลือด จากการรับประทานยาลดไขมันในเส้นเลือดอาจส่งผลต่อการลดลงของระดับปริมาณเม็ดสีจอประสาทตา จากการศึกษารายงานว่า การรับประทานยากลุ่ม statins มีฤทธิ์ยับยั้งการทางานของเอนไซม์ HMG-CoA reductase ที่ระยะเวลา 13-18 เดือนทาให้เพิ่มความเสี่ยงในเกิดโรคจอประสาทตาเสื่อมได้ ดังนั้นการศึกษานี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาถึงผลที่เกิดขึ้นต่อระดับ Macular Pigment Optical Density ในผู้ที่รับประทานยา simvastatin 10 mg ในกลุ่มประชากรคนไทย การวิจัยนี้เป็นการศึกษาเชิงวิเคราะห์แบบตัดขวาง โดยศึกษากลุ่มประชากรไทยทั้งเพศชายและเพศหญิง อายุระหว่าง 35-55 ปี จานวน 42 คนโดยแบ่งเป็น 2 กลุ่ม ได้แก่ กลุ่มปกติ และกลุ่มที่รับประทานยา simvastatin 10 mg ในระยะเวลา 6-12 เดือน โดยใช้แบบสอบถามเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลและมีการวัดค่าเม็ดสีจอประสาทตาด้วยเครื่อง Macular Pigment Screener II (MPS II) ให้กลุ่มตัวอย่างทุกคนและผู้เข้าร่วมวิจัยทุกคนจะต้องลงลายมือชื่อยินยอมในการร่วมงานวิจัย ผลการศึกษาวิจัยในครั้งนี้พบว่ากลุ่มปกติ มีค่ามัธยฐานของ MPOD เท่ากับ 0.5371±0.129 และกลุ่มที่รับประทานยา simvastatin 10 mg 6-12 เดือน พบค่ามัธยฐานเท่ากับ 0.4790±0.161 ผลคือกลุ่มที่รับประทานยา simvastatin 10 mg 6-12 เดือน มีค่ามัธยฐานน้อยกว่ากลุ่มปกติและเมื่อนามาเปรียบเทียบข้อมูลทางสถิติ โดยใช้วิธี t - test ผลปรากฏว่า ไม่มีความแตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสาคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ 0.05 ( p=0.284 ) สรุปผล คือ ระยะเวลาในการรับประทานยา simvastatin 10 mg มากกว่า 6 เดือนแต่ไม่เกิน 12 เดือนไม่มีความสัมพันธ์กับระดับของ MPOD

Abstract: Reduction of LDL – C levels and cholesterol level in blood plasma. According to the study of statins, it may result in decreased of Macular Pigment Optical Density levels. Studies have reported that taking statins has an inhibitory effect on HMG-CoA reductase activity at a period of 13-18 months, which increases the risk of Aged-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) disease. Therefore, this study aimed to study the effect of Macular Pigment Optical Density on patients who took simvastatin 10 mg for 6-12 month in the Thai population. This research is a cross-sectional analytical study. By studying the Thai population, both male and female age between 35-55 years, 42 people, divided into 2 groups. The normal subjects and the taking simvastatin 10 mg for 6-12 months groups, using questionnaires and measure the Macular Pigment Optical Density levels with the Macular Pigment Screener II (MPS II) for both group. Every participant must sign a consent to participate in the research. The result of this study found that the comparing the statistical data using the t-test method. The result showed no difference. (p = 0.284) In those with the taking simvastatin 10 mg for 6-12 months groups, who were not associated with MPOD levels. Period of taking simvastatin 10 mg for 6-12 month were not the relationship between duration of medication and MPOD levels.
