Description

Abstract: This study examines the macroeconomic indicators effecting on the economic growth of CLMV and Thailand by using the panel autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) cointegration framework. The author employs Panel ARDL approach for both long run and short run by estimating Pool Mean Group, Mean Group and Dynamic Fixed Effect estimators are applied in this study. The results, based on testing procedure, confirm that the long-run and the short-run relationship between GDP and FDI, EXR, INF and LABOR. The observed data were obtained from the UNCTAD, World Bank Development indicators for the period of 1995 to 2015. The author used two methods for this study, 1) comparing economics, policy within CLMV and Thailand, 2) explain the relationship between the economic variables and economic growth of CLMV and Thailand. The long-run and short-run relationships results showed that all the variables are positively affected the economic growth in the 5 countries. For the short-run in the DFE model, Inflation and Foreign Direct Investment are significant for the economic growth and in the form of the coefficient, Exchange Rate is negative and most effective variable for the economic growth of the 5 countries.
