Abstract:
An assembly line is a continuous process that assembles various kinds of parts to make finished products to customers. In this case study, all parts are manually fed into the assembly lines by workers. Line efficiency partially depends on efficiency of part replenishment to the assembly line. If all parts can be served to the line on time, it will not affect line efficiency. However, there is no standard times or a triggering signal for workers to feed parts to the line. Thus, the line stoppage due to part starving is approximately 10 percent of the total loss time. The objective of this paper is to consider the assembly line part feeding problem with 35 items, taking into consideration the spatial limitation of the line. We apply the formulation of the bin packing problem where the bins are time slots to serve parts, and parts in the bin are items that need to be served. The result from studying optimized number of vehicle which are 3 cart and number of worker 2 Person, the optimized route which is 226.72 meter. Can reduce loss time of part delay to 1.7 percent of the total loss time. The payback period is 1.01 year. Profit increase 30,527,600 Baht per month
