Abstract:
This research is a cross-sectional study. The purposes of this study were to examine the retirement preparedness of government teachers in Roi-Et province and related factors. The sample was 235 government teachers aged 50-59 years. Data collection was done through the self-administered questionnaire. The questionnaire had reliability coefficients ranging from 0.70-0.88. The data were analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. The research findings are as follows. 77.9% of subjects had overall retirement preparedness at a moderate level. In addition, the percentage-mean showed that the score of the living arrangement dimension was higher than the physical, mental, and financial dimensions (74.79, 74.65, 74.30, 68.29, respectively). Furthermore, the correlation between the dimensions of retirement preparedness showed that the Pearsons product-moment correlation coefficient between the financial and living arrangement dimensions (r = 0.39) was highest while the correlation between the physical and financial dimensions (r = 0.19) was lowest. The factors associated with overall retirement preparedness were perceived selfefficacy to retirement preparedness, duration of working as a government teacher, family relationship, age, and adequacy of incomes in the family (r = 0.22, 0.20, 0.19, 0.14, respectively). Morever, the duration of working as government teachers, perceived self-efficacy to retirement preparedness, and adequacy of incomes in the family were the three significant predictors accounting for 12% of the variance in the retirement preparedness of government teachers in Roi-Et province. The suggestions from this study are to encourage the importance of the perception of self-efficacy to retirement preparedness, activities that strengthen good relations between family members, and retirement preparedness at 50 years old.
