Abstract:
This study aimed to evaluate an application for communication using meaningful pictures on a tablet for people with motor aphasia. The program was developed to assist in interpretation between patients, caregivers, and a multidisciplinary team. This research involved 50 participants (41 males and 9 females) aged over 30 years. The results showed that 76% of participants could use the program to communicate; however, 24.0 % of participants could not use the program. Participants that could not use the program to communicate were able to communicate by other nonverbal means such as a nod or a shake of the head for acceptance or rejection, respectively. The average time to answer questions was 2.26 seconds. The level of overall satisfaction with the device and the software was quite satisfied and equipment and software was appropriate.
