Abstract:
The study was a cross-sectional research survey with the objective of assessing the quality of work life of sanitation technical officer (operational level) in Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. The studied sample consisted of 107 sanitation technical officers (operational level) who had worked full time for not less than one year at the Office of Health, Office of Water Drainage, Office of Environment, Office of Medical service or District office of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. Data were collected during the period from 26 May 26 June 2014. Using questionnaires as the instrument, there were 101 sets of returned and complete questionnaires for analysis (94.4%). Statistics used for data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation; correlations analysis were Independent-Samples T-Test, Pearsonss Product Moment Correlation Coefficient, and Stepwise Multiple Regression Analysis. The study found that the overall quality of work life of sanitation technical officer (operational level) in Bangkok Metropolitan Administration showed a medium level (x̄ = 3.63), overall organization loyalty was high (x̄ = 3.95), overall job satisfaction was medium (x̄ = 3.54). Correlation analysis between personal characteristics, organization loyalty and job satisfaction with quality of work life of sanitation technical officer (operational level) in Bangkok Metropolitan Administration found that monthly income and duration of work in present post had negative association at a medium and low level (r = -0.332, p-value<0.05 and r = -0.210, p-value<0.05), respectively. The study also found that organization loyalty and job satisfaction had a positive association with regards to the quality of work life in medium level and high level (r = 0.663, p-value<0.001, r = 0.886, p-value<0.001), respectively with statistical significance. The overall job satisfaction was 78.5% (R2 = 0.785) of the predictability value for quality of work life of sanitation technical officer (operational level) in Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. Job satisfaction in the aspects of policy and administration, job success, interpersonal relationship, supervision and salary had co-predictability for the quality of work life of sanitation technical officer (operational level) in Bangkok Metropolitan Administration at the value of 83.3% (R2 = 0.833). The research recommendation are that the administration should advocate clear and practical policy, praise and honor in cases where the mission assigned is successful, in an effort to inspire sanitation technical officers, and to maintain appropriate welfare benefit for personnel, supply ample equipment for individuals to perform scientific tasks, ensure sufficient manpower and support for the training of personnel regarding updated methods and new technologies.
