Abstract:
The purpose of this research is to create a program to manage the best routes for paddy transportation. A case study is conducted at a rice mill in Bukidnon, Philippines to reduce transportation costs. The rice mill transportation services initially did not manage transportation routes according to Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) theory. Therefore, developers aimed to improve the situations by using an algorithm from an applied program to find the best routes. The applied program was operated on smartphones with Android operation to input database such as date of transport, location of transport, type of paddy, quantity of paddy, prices, and contact information from buyers. The outputs of the applied program were routes and distance, which were calculated on Google Sheet and Google Maps. The results of the program were tested on October 10th, 2018 and as follows. The original distance before using the program was 227.6 km. The distance after using the program was 220.7 km. The total distance was reduced 6.3 km. or 2. 78 percent of the original distance. Time spend was reduced 45 minutes per day for purchaser and 18.73 minutes per day for truck drivers. The users of this programs · rated their satisfaction 4. 7 out of 5 which meant very satisfied.
