Abstract:
The objectives of this research were to 1) study the service leadership of school administrators, 2) study school effectiveness, and 3) investigate the relationship between the service leadership of the school administrators and school effectiveness. The sample used in the study consisted of 382 teachers under the Primary Educational Service Area Office working in the 2016 academic year. The sample size was determined using Krejcie and Morgans sample size table and the sample was randomly selected using the multi - stage random sampling method. The instrument used to collect the data was a five - point rating scale questionnaire constructed by the researcher. The instrument was assessed for content validity by the Index of congruency: IOC which was between 0.80 - 1.00. The reliability was assessed using a-Cronbachs alpha coefficient which was equal to 0.83. Percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Pearsons product moment correlation were used as the statistical devices for analyzing the data. The summary of the findings is as follows: 1) The overall service leadership of the school administrators under the Primary Educational Service Area Office was rated at a high level. The results were as follows: stewardship, empathy, listening, commitment to the growth of people, conceptualization, community building, healing, persuasion, foresight, and awareness, respectively. 2) The overall effectiveness of the schools under the Primary Educational Service Area Office was rated at a high level. The results were as follows: staff, policy, organization and environment, respectively. 3) The service leadership of the school administrators was found to have a strong positive (r = 0.85) correlation with school effectiveness at the statistical significance level of 0.01.
