Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to analyze and compare the biological activities of Vitex trifolia and Vitex negundo leaves. By analyzing the amount of Total Phenolic Content (TPC), Total Flavonoid Content (TFC), Total Proanthocyanidin Content (TPAC), Antioxidant activity (DPPH, FRAP and ABTS) and Anti-tyrosinase activity assay, which was extracted with four types of solvents including DI water, Methanol, 95%Ethanol and Acetone. According to the testing, it was found that Vitex negundo leaves extracted by Acetone shows highest content of TPC 44.26±0.10 mg Gallic acid/g sample and shows highest content of TFC 33.31±0.01 mg Quercetin/g sample. In addition, which also showed highest antioxidant activity DPPH 268.32±0.56 mg Trolox/g sample. And Vitex negundo leaves extracted by 95%Ethanol shows highest antioxidant activity FRAP 172.03±1.57 mg Trolox/g sample and ABTS 257.84±0.04 mg Trolox/g sample.
About Vitex trifolia leaves extracted by Methanol shows highest content of TPAC 22.87±0.48 mg Catechin/g sample and which extracted by 95%Ethanol shows highest Anti-tyrosinase activity of 22.59±0.05 % Tyrosinase inhibition. In addition, Vitex negundo leaves was better than Vitex trifolia leaves in extraction bioactive compound and biological activity. The study shows that Vitex negundo extract and Vitex trifolia extract was also developed to active ingredient in skin cosmetics further.
