MORPHOLOGICAL TRANSFORMATION OF COMMUNITIES AND FISHERY INDUSTRIES IN THA CHIN RIVERFRONT AREA, THA CHALOM SUB-DISTRICT MAHACHAI SUB-DISTRICT AND KROKKRAK SUB-DISTRICT, SAMUTSAKHON PROVINCE
Abstract:
The study of morphological transformation of community and fishery industries in Tha chin riverfront area, Tha chalom sub-district, Mahachai sub-district, and Krokkrak sub-district, Samutsakhon province. Have objective to 1) Study morphological transformation of Tha chin riverfront community. 2) Study development of fishery industries in Tha chin riverfront area. 3) Understand a relationship between morphological transformation of waterfront space and development of fishery industries in Tha chin riverfront area. Methodology of this study was gather information of study area and historical document to understand background of Tha chin riverfront community. Survey occupation of inhabitant to create Occupation map in Tha chin riverfront community. Select sample area to survey and observe physical element of waterfront space and interview landholder about development of usage of waterfront space. Combine following data with development of fishery industries in Tha chin riverfront community to analyze the relationship between morphological transformation of waterfront space and development of fishery industries in Tha chin riverfront community The finding divided to 4 periods 1) Artisanal fishery phase (Before 1961). 2) Industrial development phase (1961-1982). 3) Decrease of fishery industries phase (1982-2015). 4) Fishery reform phase (2015-2018). Development of fisheries industry effect to settlement, lifestyle, and physical appearance of waterfront space of Tha chin riverfront community. 1) A change of artisanal fishing to commercial fishing caused many several types of related industries. After that the situation was regress because strict fishery law and legislation. 2) Settlement in study area was start from Tha chalom sub-district and to Mahachai sub-district and Krokkrak sub-district. And then expanded outside the study area follow the road. 3) Lifestyle from the past that used waterfront area for coastal fishing has change to use these areas for transportation and become less of usage after developed road network. 4) Physical appearance of waterfront space of study area changes from small wooden dock to be a greater quay after industrial development and become abandoned because development of road network and strict fishery law and legislation that restrain fishery.
