Abstract:
The nasolabial fold is one of aging skins characteristic in midface area, There are several studies have been reported on the effectiveness and safety in rejuvenation of nasolabial fold by using non-ablative SMOOTH mode 2940 nm Er:YAG in rejuvenation of nasolabial fold. Objectives; To compare the safety and effectiveness of non-ablative Er:YAG extra-intraoral technique with intraoral technique alone. 20 patients with different grade of nasolabial fold treated with non-ablative Er:YAG laser extra-intraoral technique on right side and intraoral technique alone on left side. 3 session were done in every 4 weeks. Standardized photographs were taken at baseline and each follow up visits for 12 weeks by using Morpheus 3D® scanner to determine the improvement of nasolabial fold by using MFWS ,the evaluation compared by three blinded dermatologists. Evaluation of Visioscan and Cutometer to determine skin elasticity and wrinkles respectively. Results; There were statistical significant difference in improvement of nasolabial fold according to MFWS at 8th and 12th week (p<0.05), and no statistical significant difference of skin elasticity and wrinkles at all follow-up visits in between 2 groups. Participants were satisfied on the side of combine technique more than intraoral technique alone. Mild pain and no adverse effect were observed in both 2 groups.
Conclusion: Combined technique Er:YAG laser is effective treatment for rejuvenation of nasolabial fold better than intraoral alone with mild pain and no adverse effects.
