The effectiveness of safety management for defensive driving to reduce road incidents among distributing drivers in a private company, Chonburi province
Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to study the effect of safety management for defensive driving program to road accidents, to improve the technical knowledge of the defensive driving of delivery drivers and compare the frequency of road accidents before and after the safety management for defensive driving program was established. Quasi - experimental research intervention design, within 12 weeks (July and September, 2017), 35 distributing drivers of private company in Chonburi. This program is consisted with 4 subjects include safety policy for defensive driving, safety communication, safety inspection and defensive driving technical training. The study was found that after the program, the average score of safety management for defensive driving program was increased significantly (p<0.05), the average score of technical knowledge of the defensive driving was increased significantly (p<0.05) and the road incident was reduced by 51.16% statistically significant (p<0.05) when compare to before the program was established. Defensive driving programs can increase safety management for defensive driving, reduced road incident of delivery drivers and improved know technical knowledge of defensive driving of delivery drivers. Therefore, the defensive driving programs should be continued in the company. In Addition, risk management and fatigue of the driver shall be included into further study to determine the real cause of the problem and obstacle of work. So that we can improve the safety driving policy systematically and comprehensively.
