Development of a non-formal education process to promote the awareness in living together with care in urban communities : a case study of Baan Krua Nua Community
Abstract:
The aims of this research were to 1) synthesize indicators of living together with care in urban communities 2) to study of awareness level of living together with care in urban communities 3) to development of a non-formal education process to promote the awareness in living together with care in urban communities and 4) to propose guidelines for raising awareness in living together with care in urban communities with the non-formal education process. This research was mixed method in a quantitative and qualitative research. For quantitative the sampling using data collection were 5,708 participants living in urban communities in Bangkok and 400 participants living in Baan Krua Nua Community, Petchaburi Road District, Ratchathewi, Bangkok by accidental sampling, research instrument included questionnaire and awareness test, data were analyzed by using descriptive, analysis of variance, confirmatory factor analysis. For qualitative based on documentary study and key informant interview. Moreover, participatory action research (PAR) This research was conducted in collaboration with the researcher and community organization focusing on the area of Baan Krua Nua Community, Petchaburi Road District, Ratchathewi, Bangkok, Thailand. The findings were as follows; 1. The indicators of living together with care in urban communities consisted of 3 main factors, 8 minor factors and 50 indicators. They were divided into 1) the body main factors consisted of 3 minor factors and 16 indicators: 6 indicators of sacrifice, 5 indicators of respect for social rules and 5 indicators of mutual recognition. 2) The verbal main factors consisted of 2 minor factors and 11 indicators: 5 indicators of speak untimely and 6 indicators speak creative. 3) The mind main factors consisted of 3 minor factors and 23 indicators: 7 indicators of positive attitude towards difference between individuals, 8 indicators of goodwill toward others, 8 indicators of maintain of good own. 2. The results of the analysis of awareness level of living together with care in urban communities showed that the respondents had a high level of awareness in all aspects with the highest level of verbal aspect mean was 4.45, followed by the physical and mind mean was 4.31 and 4.15. 3. A non-formal education process to promote the awareness in living together with care in urban communities which consisted of five process as follows; 1) perceive the problem, 2) planning, 3) doing, 4) conclusions and 5) reflection. 4. The propose guidelines for raising awareness in living together with care in urban communities with the non-formal education process which consisted of eight components as follows; 1) participation, 2) happiness, 3) learning, 4) conservation, 5) creative, 6) coordination, 7) acceptation and 8) knowledge.
