Abstract:
People with diabetes often have problems controlling blood sugar. It causes severe complications, partly because of a lack of social support and health care. So, in this study was to find factor on social support affecting the control of blood sugar in diabetics. The sample consisted of 248 patients who were registered in the name of the Bangpakong hospital, Chachoengsao province, and selected by simple random sampling from a list of patients who received services in the second week of the month of September 2549. Data were collected through structured interviews, and analyzed by percentage, mean, standard deviation and the Chi-square test. The study indicated that most of the patients were women (71.0%), mean age 64.6 ± 9.7 year, most end up primary education (78.6%), do not work (55.6%), patients had an average of 10 ± 7.6 year, used to receive other hospitals 24.2% and no servants 13.3%, mostly did not sugar control (64.1%). Patients with moderate average social support, most of the material was (81.5%), followed by the information (75.8%), assessment (75.4%) and less emotional (66.5%). Social support in assessment, emotional and informational factors that affect blood sugar control was 6.2, 4.6 and 3.3 times that of patients with a little support, it should encourage the patient to receive strong support in the assessment, emotion and information for to control the blood sugar.
