A Model Of Teacher Development For Asean Economic Community In Basic Schools Under A Jurisdiction Of The Narathiwat Primary Educational Service Area Office 1
Abstract:
This is an integrated study which has been set it purposes to develop a model of teacher development for Asean Economic Community in basic schools under a Jurisdiction of the Narathiwat Primary Educational Service Area Office 1. This research consists three stages: Stage 1: study, analyse, synthesize concepts and current teacher development for Asean Economic Community in basic schools, the Narathiwat Primary Educational Service Area Office 1, using survey method with a sample group of 327 teachers and educational personnel by simple random sampling and interviewing with 10 related persons by using a semi-structured interview. Stage 2: develop a model for teacher development for Asean Economic Community in Basic Schools, the Narathiwat Primary Educational Service Area Office 1, review and check for appropriateness and adoptability of a drafted-model with focus group discussion. The samples are 10 experts. And stage 3: evaluate the developed model from 149 school administrators of basic school, the Narathiwat Primary Educational Service Area Office 1. The statistics used for data analysis were percentage, mean, Standard Deviation, and qualitative data analysis with content analysis.
The findings were found that
1. Overall current situation of teacher development for Asean Economic Community in basic schools under a jurisdiction of the Narathiwat Primary Educational Service Area Office 1 was at a high level in every aspect, as follows: aspect of self-study, aspect of supervision, aspect of training, aspect of seminar, aspect of workshop, aspect of study tour, and aspect of further study, respectively.
2. The developed model for teacher development for Asean Economic Community in basic schools under a jurisdiction of the Narathiwat Primary Educational Service Area Office 1 composes of 7 components: 1) competency development in English language and Asean language for communication for schools personnel; 2) personnel exchange program among ASEANs member countries; 3) support further study for AEC readiness; 4) having mentors or coaching for the ASEAN studies; 5) setting up effective ASEANs information hub or online searching; 6) adaptation of knowledge from seminar or workshop into teaching, learning and personnel performance development; and 7) setting up workshop to integrated action plan towards AEC.
3. The developed model for teacher development for Asean Economic Community in basic schools under a jurisdiction of the Narathiwat Primary Educational Service Area Office 1, as evaluated by 149 school administrations, is usable, possible, feasible, and righteous at a high level.
