Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to study the success level of the Krathu Municipality in implementing the Good Governance principles, to investigate the problems found, and to propose guidelines in order to improve the administration of the Krathu Municipality regarding the Good Governance. This study employed both qualitative and quantitative techniques. The sample group consisted of 164 people who were working for the Krathu Municipality, and 5 members of the Krathu Municipality Council. Questionnaires and an in-depth interview were used as tools to collect the data. The statistics employed in analyzing the collected data were frequency, percentage, arithmetic means, and S.D.
The results of the study revealed : the success level of the Krathu Municipality in implementing the Good Governance principles was found to be high in all aspects. Problems found were as follows : the Municipality could not solve the peoples problems in time ; some personnel lacked the technology information skills ; there were insufficient communication channels between the Municipality and local people. Suggestions were that the Municipality should encourage the staff to use technology in order to make their work more effective ; more channels and various types of media were needed to inform the public about the Municipality projects. The good governance principles which should be applied to increase the efficiency of the Municipality included easy access, transparency, justice, participation, and networking.
