Abstract:
The Gravity Model is a model widely used for zone-to-zone trip calculation in the stage of trip distribution of the four-step model method. The Specific Zone-to-Zone Adjustment Factor (K-Factor), applied in the model, is mostly assumed to be one (1). As a consequence, an error is accumulated from stage to stage so that a wrong number of ridership, an important parameter in transport planning, is taken place. The study of K-Factor, therefore, is brighten up in this thesis focusing on the steps of finding out K-Factor in a specific area. Muang district of Chantaburi is selected as an area for collecting data, consisting of primary and secondary source. To find out zoile-to-zone trips and K-Factor of the area, all data is combined together and analyzed with a number of iteration by a sofhvare specifically written. The result shows that there is a specific factor, used for zone-to-zone trip calculation, in the area. In other words, a number of zone-to-zone trip in an area is developed and adjusted by a specific K-Factor, used in the gravity model. Therefore, since K-Factor in each area is changed with uncertainty of social-economic situation, the zone-to-zone trip should be calculated with the K-Factor of specific time and specific area for using in the next stage of transport planning.
