Network of participation in the conservation of forest resources: a case study of ban na e-san community, tha kradan sub-district, sanam chai khet district, chachoengsao province
Abstract:
The objective of this research was to study the formation and organization of networksof participation in the conservation of forest resources of Ban Na E-san community, Tha Kradan Sub-district, Sanam Chai Khet District, Chachoengsao Province. In-depth interviews were conducted by two key informant groups: 3 people from the government and 6 people from Ban Na E-sanagroforest group (Ban Na E-san tree seedling group). From the results, it was found that the network formation of Ban Na E-san community was naturally formed through community initiative with no formal structure. The community was aware of a problem then formed the group to solve or mitigate problems comprising of: 1) awareness of the problem and realization of the need to form a group; 2) the search for good leadership for the network; 3) creating joint benefits, and; 4) creating a network using a learning platform as a tool to conduct activities and exchange knowledge. From the results of the study on the network organization of Ban Na E-san community, it was found that there is clear network management for the present group as follows: 1) network planning; 2) network member responsibilities arrangement; 3) communication systems arrangement, and; 4) shared learning system arrangements. The aims were to seek solutions to the problems and obstacles, to maintain the traditional way of life (to have enough to eat for life), and to live self-sufficiently and selfreliantly without external social burdens.
