Abstract:
The aims of this research were to compare brand personality and image of football shoes from amateur football players in Bangkok. The samples were 401 amateur football players in Bangkok and data were gathered using questionnaire. The descriptive statistics used for general data analysis consist of frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The inferential statistics used for testing hypothesis was F-Test
The research results showed that most amateur football players were having age of 21-24 years old, having bachelor degree, and having marital status as single. They were mostly having a job as company employees with monthly income between 20,001-30,000 Baht. The majority were players in defensive positions. The most purchased brand was Adidas while most used in the game was Nike.
In term of perceived brand personality, the results showed that amateur football players who used brand Nike, Adidas, Puma, Mizuno and Pan had different perception on brand personality in all aspects. The brand personalities were Sincerity, Excitement, Competence, Ruggedness, Attractiveness, Innovation, Activity, and Sophistication. However, when analyzing each brand, the research found that Nikes users perceived most on Attractiveness and least on Ruggedness. Adidass users perceived most on Attractiveness and least on Ruggedness. Pumas users perceived most on Activity and least on Ruggedness. Mizunos users perceived most on Competence and least on Ruggedness. Last, Pans users perceived most on Activity and least on Ruggedness.
Regarding the results on perception of brand image, most amateur football players who used brand Nike, Adidas, Puma, Mizuno and Pan had different perception of brand image on Attributes and Benefits aspects while they had no different perception on Value aspect. When analyzing each brand, it was found that Nikes users perceived most on Attributes and least on Benefits. Adidass users perceived most on Attributes and least on Benefits. Pumas users perceived most on Attributes and least on Benefits. Mizunos users perceived most on Attributes and least on Benefits. Last, Pans users perceived most on Value and least on Benefits.
