Abstract:
The purposes of this research were 1) to study factors to towards the spiritual well-being
of the elder in Buddhist Psychology, 2) to study level of the spiritual well-being of the elder in
Buddhist Psychology, 3) to propose a promoting model of the spiritual well-being of the elder in
Buddhist Psychology. Mixed methods research was used for research design including quantitative
research and qualitative research and was divided into three phases of studying. The first phase was
factors towards the spiritual well-being of the elder. The second phase was level of the spiritual wellbeing of the elder in Buddhist psychology, and the third phase was guidelines to enhance the spiritual
well-being of older on Buddhist Psychology.The population of this research was elders in Buriram
Province. Interview questions and questionnaires were used for research tools.Quantitative data was
analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and multiple regression analysis.
Content analysis and analytic induction were used for qualitative data. The research results were as
follows:
1. Factors found two factors consisted of 1) the aspect of spiritual well-being factor of
elder which were 1.1) feeling towards life, partner and children, 1.2) the well-being of the current
being, 1.3) the well-being of a religious adherence. 2) The aspect of family relationship factor which
were 2.1) spend time on doing activity within the family, 2.2) discuss and decide important matters
with the family members, 2.3) express love and generosity to family members with body, verbal and
mind, 2.4) practice appropriate roles of family members, and 2.5) have relationship with friends.
2. Level of a spiritual well-being of elder on Buddhist psychology indicated that 1) an
overall average for level of a spiritual well-being of elder was high level ( = 4.35). Considering
in each aspect showed that the highest level was shown in two aspects which were the aspect of

feeling towards life, partner and children, and the aspect of the well-being of a religious adherence.
2) The overall average for level of a family relationship was high level ( = 4.31). Considering in
each item showed that the highest level was shown in two items which were always give an
important feeling to friends and they were trusting each other. Analysis of the four independent
variables, the scores were discussed, discussed, or judged on important issues. Score on the time
spent doing activities together members. And the expression of love. The 787 independent variables
explain the variation of the degree of spiritual well-being by 61.9 percent.
3. An encouragement model of spiritual well-being of elder on Buddhist psychology
consisted 3 components. The first component was two factors support spiritual well-being which
were family relationship and friend relationship. The second component was to apply bass of
meritorious action on the aspect of feeling towards life, the well-being of present life, and the wellbeing of religious respect. The third component consisted of eight guidelines which were (1)
guideline to promote family members having meal together, (2) guideline for promoting family
members joining housework, (3) guideline for promoting family members joining hobby, (4)
guideline of promoting family members doing exercise and playing sport with elders, (5) guideline
for supporting family members to relax outside with elders, (6) guideline for promoting family
members to take elder visiting relatives and friends, (7) Guideline of supporting family members to
join in religious ceremony that would help elders to apply Dhamma in daily life, and 8) guideline
for promoting family members to join in volunteer activities.
