Abstract:
The purposes of this study were to examine a level of quality of work life among noncommissioned police officers working for Border Patrol Police Sub-Division 12 in Amphoe Aranyaprathet, Sa Kaeo Province and to compare their level of quality of work life as classified by gender, age, length of working for Border Patrol Police Sub-Division 12, marital status, educational level, monthly income, work rank, and amount of debt. Also, this study aimed at investigating the guidelines for developing these police officers quality of work life. The subjects participating in this study were 240 non-commissioned police officers who were requested to complete a questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed by the descriptive statistical tests, including frequency, percentage, means, and standard deviation. Inaddition, the inferential statistical tests, including t-test, One-way ANOVA, and LSD, were administered. To analyze the suggestions for developing the subjects quality of work life, a technique of content analysis was used. The results of this study revealed that the level of quality of work life among noncommissioned police officers working for Border Patrol Police Sub-Division 12 in Amphoe Aranyaprathet, Sa Kaeo Province was found at a high level. When considering each aspect of quality of work life, the one in relation to the usefulness of work to society was rated the highest, followed by the aspects of safe and health-promoting working environment, collaboration and relationship with other people, opportunities for self-development, personal rights, pace of life, job advancement and security, adequate and fair compensation, respectively. Based on the results from the comparisons, it was shown that there were no significant differences in the level of quality of work life among non-commissioned police officers with different age, length of work, and work rank. Also, statistically significant differences in the level of quality of work life were found among non-commissioned police officers with different gender, marital status, educational level, amount of monthly income, and amount of debt at a significant level of .05. It was suggested that the majority of these non-commissioned police officers needed an increase of fringe benefits and amount of compensation that are in line with current economic conditions. This was followed by the need for an increase of monthly salary. Also, a process of appraisal and promotion should be just and equal, and it should be based on work performance. Furthermore, there should be an adequacy of equipment and materials needed for work that are up-to date. There should be an opportunity for these non-commissioned police officers to transfer to work in their hometowns.Finally, a more effective structure of police officers should be developed and introduced.
