The management of living allowance for the elderly: a case study of wat bot sub-district administrative organization, amphoe phanat nikhom, chon buri province
Abstract:
The purposes of this study were to examine the management of living allowance for the elderly of Wat Bot Sub-District Administrative Organization, Amphoe Phanat Nikhom, Chon Buri Province and to compare the level of opinions towards the management of living allowance for the elderly as classified by gender, age, status, educational level, number of family members, occupation, source of other income, total amount of monthly income, length of living allowance obtained, and methods of receiving living allowance. The subjects participating in this study were 244 aging people living in 11 villages in Wat Bot SubDistrict Administrative Organization, Amphoe Phanat Nikhom, Chon Buri Province. These elderly were eligible for receiving living allowance based on the payment regulations for the elderly B.E. 2552. A questionnaire with rating scales was used to collect the data. The descriptive and inferential statistical tests, including One-way ANOVA were administered to analyze the collect data. The test of Scheffe was also used to test the differences between pairs. The results of this study were as follows: 1) It was shown that the subjects agreed with the management of living allowance for the elderly at a high level. Specifically, the item of management relating to the staff giving service was rated at the highest level, followed by the ones relating to facilities, monitoring process, methods of payment of living allowance, and the registration of eligible elderly for living allowance, respectively. 2) Based on the results from the comparisons, it was shown that there were nostatistically significant differences in the level of opinions towards the management of living allowance for the elderly among the subjects with different gender, age, status, educational level, number of family members, occupation, source of other income, total amount of monthly income, length of living allowance obtained, and methods of receiving living allowance. 3) It was suggested that Wat Bot Sub-District Administrative Organization should place an importance on the problems facing people. Policies should be made to accommodate potential problems in a case of emergency. Also, developing plans for the elderly should be made on a yearly basis so that existing problems and needs among the elderly could be identified and used as guidelines for making policies on living allowance or other social welfare services for the elderly
