Abstract: The objective of this paper is to present the study on the modification technique for analysis of basic noise level that can be used effectively in motorway traffic noise forecasting. Since the high standard pavement surface condition of motorway causing the over estimated traffic noise predicting result when the basic level models, which are built from other roadway with lower pavement surface standard, are applied into the main forecasting model for motorway noise. The modification analysis is then given to the basic noise data of each vehicle type in order to decreasw the estimated basic noise level from each type of vehicle so that it can be fitted to that of the vehicle running on the motorway. The confident interval cut off technique is applied to these data, and the new basic noise models are input into the main model to evaluates for the efficiency of the prediction results. The final result shows that the modified basic noise levels from this study can provide the good results in both the mean square error test and the graphical comparison test between predicted and measured data with 97.5% and 98.5% of accuracy interval bands
