Abstract:
The purposes of this quasi-experimental research were 1) to developcontemplative education-based instruction to enhance critical thinking of Mattayomsuksa 6 Students and 2) to compare critical thinking of Mattayomsuksa 6 Students between before and after using the developed instruction. The sample included thirty of Mattayomsuksa 6 students from Isalamwittayalai School obtained through cluster random sampling. The research instruments involved lesson plans and critical thinking test. Data were collected in the 2nd semester of academic year 2016 and were statistically analyzed in percentage, MEAN, standard deviation, and t-test.
The findings revealed as follows.
1. The components of contemplative education-based instruction to enhance critical thinking of Mattayomsuksa 6 Students delineated 1) principles, or concepts 2) objectives 3) instructional process, i.e., stage 1: reinforcement; stage 2: enhancement; stage 3: contents; stage 4: conclusions and stage 5: conceptual reflection and 4) learning outcomes.
2. The critical thinking of Mattayomsuksa 6 Students after using the contemplative education-based instruction was generally higher than that before the experiment at significance level .01.
