Abstract:
The aims of this study were 1) to evaluate internet-using behavior of undergraduate students of KingMongkut s University of Technology Thonburi, 2) to evaluate relationship between internet-usingbehavior and academic achievement. Populations to be studied were the undergraduate students ofKing Mongkut s University of Technology Thonburi who were studying in Faculty of Science,Faculty of Engineering, School of Information Technology, and Faculty of Industrial Education.The stratified systematic sampling was applied to randomize the population.The result of this research showed that: 1) most of students connected to the Internet via computer atComputer Center of the university at the utmost. Mostly, the students individually connected to theInternet 3-4 times a week during 10.01 p.m.-12.00 at night, with average of over 2-3 hours a time. Itwas found that the World Wide Web was being used at the utmost. While information attainment,communication via Internet, on-line conversation and file transfer were being used moderately.Objectives of internet-using behavior were involving in academic purposes, entertainment andothers in moderate level.2) The Stepwise Multiple Regression Analysis was used to examine data. It was shown that therelationship between internet-using behavior and academic achievement was not a linear, however,it was shown as a sine curve relationship. This relationship of the students in the four faculties wasshown to be significant which included the objectives relating to entertainment, information onentertainment and information on academic, also it could explain variance of sin (GPA) as 95.7%.
