Abstract:
The objectives of this qualitative research were to study, survey locations and promote for the elderly health tourism demand in Muang District Chonburi province.
The sample were 10 elderly residents in Muang District Chonburi Province. Focus group discussion was conducted with purposive selected 8 attendants in 1) Public health government agencies 2) Tourism agencies and 3) Tourism academic officers. The research instruments were interview, observation and group discussion guidelines. Data collected by in-depth interview,
non-participant observation and group discussion. Data were analyzed by the content analysis technique. The results were as follow:
1. The elderly residents in Muang District Chonburi Provinces demand for the elderly health tourism were healthy, participation and security
2. The locations for the elderly health tourism in Muang District Chonburi Province including inside and outside communities were categorized in 3 patterns 1) Thai culture tourism 2) natural tourism 3) recreation tourism
3. The promotion approach for the elderly health tourism in Muang District Chonburi
Province can be viewed in 3 dimensions:
3.1 Health dimension: The government agencies should extend the retirement age,
setup events that encourage for elderly ages health.
3.2 Tourism dimension: Tourism Authority of Thailand should communicate tourism locations and define tourism plan focus on the elderly and elderly caregiver.
3.3 Educational dimension: The Senior Citizen Club is one of the sources for the elderly health care knowledge sharing.
