Abstract:
The present research investigated and compared the really occurred and expected administrative behavior of the administrators in the basic education schools s perceived by 220 teachers of Buriram School District Area 1. The data focused on education decentralization was collected by a questionnaire survey and analyzed for frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. The research results indicated as follows:
1. The research informants revealed their high expectancy for every aspect of decentralized administration but the implementation concerning the academic, personnel, and budgeting affairs of the school administrators was reportedly in the intermediate level except that on the general administrative task.
2. The teachers, classified in groups by their age, gender, and positions, reported no significant difference of their perception on the occurred behavior of the administrators. However, their perception on the expected implementation of education decentralization was different at the .05 level of significance. When classified by their levels of education, the teachers' perception on the occurred and expected performance of the administrators was not significantly different. When compared by their experience, the teachers' perception on the really occurred was not different, except that on expected performance with the .01 level of significance.
3. The majority of teachers agreed that the administrators were academic leaders who encouraged more hardly working of teachers with participative empowerment and also realized the importance of the good governance principles. Additionally, the teachers expected the administrators' continuous information retrieval and ability of response to every aspect of their inquiry
