Effects of ICT-aided flipped classroom on EFL students' grammar achievement and attitude at Royal University of Phnom Penh
Abstract:
Informed by the communicative approach, this paper examines the effects of the ICT-aided flipped classroom on second-year undergraduate students grammar achievement and attitude. 81 students are from one Cambodian university. Adopting mixed methods, the researcher employs pre-test, post-test, a questionnaire using a 5-point Likert scale, formative assessment, student logs and semi-structured interviews. At the conclusion of one semester study, the results indicate that the students in the ICT-aided flipped classroom gained higher post-test mean scores of 41.48 than those in the non-flipped classroom of 38.93 while the effect size is medium. This achievement is associated with pre-class activities, in-class activities and teaching process. Moreover, the findings also show the flipped groups positive attitude towards the class settings. Finally, this study calls for further studies with respect to this flipped model across other disciplines, English skills and theories.
