Abstract:
This research aimed to 1) investigate the frameworks of academic administration of the
child development centers under the local administrative organization in the northeast of Thailand,
2) develop the academic administration training curriculum of the child development centers under
the local administrative organization in the northeast of Thailand, 3) study the implementation of
the academic administration training curriculum of the child development centers under the local administrative organization in the northeast of Thailand, and 4) evaluate the academic administration training curriculum of the child development centers under the local administrative organization in the northeast of Thailand. This research was divided into four phases : phase 1: studying and analyzing the basic information related to problems and needs for development, including three steps : 1.1) reviewing the related documents and previous studies, 1.2) taking a visit and interviewing 8 principals, childcare takers, committees, and child's parents from two best practice child
development centers of Thatoom Municipality in Surin province and Muang Roi Et Municipality in Roi Et province, and 1.3) analyzing and synthesizing the problems and needs for development; phase 2: constructing the academic administration training curriculum, including three steps : 2.1) drafting the academic administration training curriculum, 2.2) examining the academic
administration training curriculum by the experts' group discussion, and 2.3) adapting the academic
administration training curriculum; phase 3 : implementing the academic administration training
curriculum with 30 principals of child development centers : and phase 4 : evaluating the academic
administration training curriculum. The findings could be summarized as follows:
1. There were 5 frameworks of academic administration of the child development
centers under the local administrative organization in the northeast of Thailand : consisting of
1) school curriculum development; 2) academic planning ; 3) teaching and learning management;
4) teaching and learning evaluation ; and 5) teaching supervision, respectively.
2. The academic administration training curriculum of the child development centers
under the local administrative organization in the northeast of Thailand included 5 learning units
with 20 topics for 23 hours. The 5 learning units were composed of 1) learning unit 1 - school
curriculum development with 5 topics, namely definitions, principles, components, administration,
and evaluation of the school curriculum ; 2) learning unit 2 - academic planning with 4 topics, namely definitions, components, planning, and important techniques for academic planning ; 3) learning unit 3 - teaching and learning management with 4 topics, namely definitions of learning, definitions of teaching, taking systematic approaches into applying the teaching and
learning, and learning and teaching systems; 4) learning unit 4 - teaching and learning evaluation
with 3 topics, namely rationale and significance, components, and principles of teaching and learning evaluation; and 5) learning unit 5 - teaching supervision with 4 topics, namely objectives, principles, processes, and techniques in teaching supervision respectively.
3. The results of the implementation of the academic administration training curriculum
of the child development centers under the local administrative organization in the northeast of
Thailand were that:
3.1 The academic administration training curriculum had propriety, feasibility,
accuracy and utility evaluated by 5 experts in both overall and each aspect at the highest level.
3.2 The post-test mean score of the child development center principals was higher than the pre-test mean score using the academic administration training curriculum of the child
development centers under the local administrative organization in the northeast of Thailand with statistical significant level of .05.
3.3 The child development center principals were satisfied with the academic
administration training curriculum of the child development centers under the local administrative
organization in the northeast of Thailand at the highest level.
4. The academic administration training curriculum had propriety, feasibility, accuracy and utility evaluated by 17 experts in both overall and each aspect at the highest level.
