Abstract:
This study was aimed to study thc status, problcins and nccds or thc computertcachcrs in thc Collcgcs undcr the Dcpartment of Vocational Education, Ministry of Education.Thc sainplc consistcd of 326 hcads of coinputcr scctiori and 579 cornputcr tcachcrs from thcCollcgcs in thc provinccs which wcrc sclcctcd by stratified random sampling. Thc tools for thisstudy wcrc queslionnaircs. The statistics uscd wcrc pcrccntagc, mcan, standard deviation andonc - way ANOVA.Thc study findings wcrc as follows :1. The majority of computcr tcachcrs working in thc collcgcs undcr the Dcpartmcntof Vocational Education, Ministry of Education wcrc fcmalc, agcd bctwccn 25-30, obtaincdbachelor dcgrcc, and had lcss than 1 ycar cxpcricncc in tcaching computer. Thcir rcsponsibilitywas to tcach computcr in ccrtificatc Icvcl. Most of thcm gaincd knowlcdgc by sclf study.2. Administrators of thc collcgcs undcr thc Dcpartmcnt of Vocational Education,Ministry of Education, informcd that during 2000 - 2004 thcy rcquircd 2,050, cithcr malc orfemale, teachcrs who obtaincd bachelor dcgrcc in computcr scicncc, wcrc agcd bctwccn 25-30,and had 1-3 ycars cxpcricnccs in tcaching cornputcr courscs. Morcovcr, thcy highcstly rcquircdtcachcrs who had tcaching and gcncral skills. Bcsidcs thcy highly required tc;~chcrs who hadbasic knowlcdgc in computcr, opc~ating and othcr practical sysicms, hnrdwarcs and cquipmcnt,computcr languagcs, and application of programs and packages.3. Regarding thc problcms of computer teachers, according lo thc administrators, itwas found that thc problcms wcrc avcragcly in middlc Icvcl. Furthcnnorc, i t was fomd that theproblcrn conccming inadcquaic numbcr of tcachcrs was in t l ~ c high lcvcl. Bcsidcs, thc problcmsconccnling computcr tcachcrs wcrc avcragcly in tncdium lcvcl. Morcovcr, it was found that thcproblcm concemcd inadequate nu~nbcr of tcachcrs and Icachcrs' lack of opportunity to dcvclopthemsclvcs wcrc in the high lcvcl.
