Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the monk's roles as perceived by Nangrong secondary school students in Nangrong District, Buriram Province in the four aspects, namely Buddhism learning and teaching process, teaching aids provision, extra curriculum activities, and measurement and assessment. The samples were 333 Nangrong secondary school students orsa level , selected by the Taro Yansane Table with confidence level of 95.5 % and error at 5 % , and simple random sampling. The instrument used in data collecting was a 3-part questionnaine including check list, a S-rating scale and open-ended form with its reliability at 9604 The statistics used in analyzing the data were percentage, mean and standard deviation.
The study results revealed that
1. The monk's roles in Buddhism teaching as perceived by Nangrong secondary school students both as a whole and each aspect were at much levels. The ranking from high to low mean, scores were extra curriculum activities, teaching aids provision, learning and teaching process, and measurement and assessment, respectively
2. The additional opinions and suggestions with the highest percentages were that the monks should be endowed with respectable and faithful personality and also have truly knowledgeable about the Buddha's teachings, followed by the up-to-date teaching aids, interesting books and texts on Buddhism should be available for students, and Buddha's a birth story should be taught in order to relieve and ease the students' tension and anxicty and also to integrate it with other subjects, respectively.
